Isabeau Carpenter was a student at the Academy of Enlightenment, where she lost her life. She and her father Jonah Carpenter lived on the countryside outside of Eubric. Jonah paid his life's savings to get the smart Isabeau into the academy in order for her to have a better future, but she did not mesh well with the upper class youth that studied there. Isabeau was bullied and teased, and the only one who showed her sympathy was the gnomish dean Olfus Bumblebore.

Unfortunately, the teacher became obsessed by Isabeau, and when she turned down his advances, he one evening caught her by surprise at the Academy's lavatories where he raped and murdered her. Her body the teacher tossed into the sewers, but her spirit lingered, transforming into a vengeful wight due to all the grief caused to her. This started a series of supernatural events that ended when a group of heroes from Heroica defeated the wight.

The truth about her murderer did not come to light until the Academy was transferred into the Void by Isabeau's mourning father who had been possessed by the archdemon Marilith. Jonah was killed as well, but both he and Isabeau were able to move on once Dean Bumblebore confessed everything. Dean Bumblebore realized that his actions had caused the death of several other students and teachers as well, he could not live with himself. As soon as the Academy was returned from the Void, the dean took his own life.
