King Nebukadnezzar XIII Azzurati was the last ruler of the once fertile and prosperous kingdom of Azzurat. He grew up vain and spoiled, so nothing was enough for him. He negligently spent gold from the kingdom's treasury to build monuments so that his land would be envied by all the world. He married the most beautiful woman in the kingdom, called Semiramis, but grew distant with her once it was revealed that she was clairvoyant. The people of Azzurat loved their queen, though.

The power-hungry Nebukadnezzar eagerly accepted a copy of the Pandemonicon that was offered to him by an old hag calling herself Brahne. After giving himself to the book, he finally managed to summon an archdemon, Ahriman the Envious Eye, who made the kingdom even wealthier. However, it was not enough for Nebukadnezzar, who kept on summoning more demons, until eventually another archdemon, Naamah, came forth and fell in love with him. Getting a vision of an impending doom, Queen Semiramis lead those still loyal to her out of Azzurat, leaving his husband on the mercy of the demons.

Naamah and Ahriman fought fiercely for the king's favor, and Naamah ultimately came on top. But the arachnoid archdemon realized that the mortal king could never be truly hers, so she spun him into a web of eternal sleep, while her tears of sand covered the kingdom under the desert. For decades the archdemon guarded the king's body, until a powerful man in a wide-brimmed hat came to claim the Pandemonicon his own. The man summoned Ahriman back, and his presence caused nightmares to Queen Semiramis, who had moved to Eubric after her escape. She in turn sent heroes of Heroica to examine the disturbance in her old homeland. The heroes found and banished the two archdemons, but also awakened the king, who had turned into a ghoul by the years spent in the magical web. They gave Nebukadnezzar peace at last.
